Panasonic’s Flexible Free Multi System Connects up to Five Indoor Units with a Single Outdoor Unit

Air Heat Pumps - Heat Pumps - Water Heat Exchangers

Panasonic Heat Pumps

With Panasonic’s innovative range of domestic air-to-air heat pumps, it is possible to connect up to five different rooms with a single outdoor unit using the Free Multi system for users’ personal comfort. Space-saving and energy efficient, most combinations also meet the recent ErP Directive, having a high SEER and SCOP value (A++/A+ depending on model).

Flexible choice
A truly flexible solution, using Free Multi means it is possible to provide air conditioning for 2, 3, 4 or 5 rooms with just one, single outdoor unit. By specifying Panasonic’s Free Multi range, clients benefit from saving space, at the same time as also benefit from better energy efficiency than traditional 1x1 systems, which in some cases can be up to 30%.

The wide range of indoor units is impressive; choose from wall mounted (available in white and silver finishes), hide-away, cassette (600mm x 600mm), ceiling mounted or floor-standing options. These wall-mounted Etherea units have also recently won the prestigious iF Design Award, which celebrates product design excellence. Judged on everything from appearance and functionality, through to the environmental impact of the product, awards are only given to products that demonstrate innovative design. The Free Multi Etherea indoor wall-mounted units won thanks to its highly intelligent functionality.

Impressive Performance
Free Multi units have impressive performance too, achieving extremely high capacity at outdoor temperatures, ranging from -15°C in heating mode to -10°C in cooling mode. New for 2013, Panasonic have now introduced a new 1.6kW wall mounted unit further increasing the flexibility of the free multi range. This is ideal for usage on very well insulated houses and in small offices. Also, the Free Multi outdoor units are able to modulate the compressor to an extremely low frequency which provides high savings when there is no need for full capacity.

Marc Diaz, Panasonic’s UK Country Manager explains: “The flexibility in specifying solutions from the Panasonic range of air-to-air heat pumps means that consumers can benefit whatever the type of property they live in – and benefit from impressive energy savings too.”

The outdoor units are able to modulate capacity to adapt production to meet the required demand of the installed indoor units. For example the CU-3E18PBE, which has a nominal capacity of 5.2kW, can modulate from 1.80kW to 7.30kW with minimal consumption, thus saving energy and enhancing energy performance. In fact, thanks to this modulation, the 1.8kW unit has minimal energy consumption of only 0.36kW!

Panasonic’s DC inverter system provides precise temperature control with a low start-up current. The twin rotary compressor, with its perfect balancing, ensures functional reliability and efficiency. This also contributes to rapid cooling and heating, increased comfort and extremely quiet operation.
