Hager has launched a new Sollysta IP66 range for use in indoor and outdoor applications where wiring accessories may be vulnerable to the potentially harmful effects of dust or water ingress.

Manufactured from a tough, durable thermoplastic, the range’s IP66 rating assures total protection against airborne particles and high-pressure water jets.

In addition to being aesthetically pleasing to the end-user, using Hager’s proven Sollysta wiring accessories, the IP66 range is designed to make the installation easier for electrical contractors.

All accessories in the range feature a neutral loop terminal, allowing contractors to complete the loop connection in the switch itself. Not only does this reduce cabling time, but it also meets the needs of BS7671 since the connections are readily accessible for inspection.

In addition, terminals designed to face in the same direction, with lead-ins for wiring, backed-off screws held captive to prevent loss, wire end stops and clear identification all help make the wiring and cabling much easier.

With its unique dual action hinge, the range features a lid that can be opened a full 180 degrees for ease of plug insertion and switch operation. An extended enclosure and extra wide gel seal mean even moulded on plugs can be accommodated.

The factory fitted soft gel seal fits snugly around power cables to maintain the IP66 rating in use with the lid fully closed. All enclosures are padlockable to prevent any unauthorised use.

Units in the range feature secure 20mm cable entry knockouts that are easily removed by pushing out from the inside of the box.

If 25mm conduit is needed, then a clearly marked drill out position allows safe and precise use of a 25mm hole saw.

Commenting on the launch, market manager Helen Holman said: “The Sollysta range was designed with ease of installation in mind. The new IP66 range builds on this functionality, with the added benefit of total protection against airborne particles and high-pressure jets, making them ideal for use in outdoor applications.”
