Under the Construction Products Regulations, CE marking of steel lintels is mandatory from 1st July 2013. Catnic has ensured supporting Declaration of Performance documents are available to download for all relevant products from its website at www.catnic.com.

Construction Products Regulation (EU) No 305/2011 demands that steel lintels must be manufactured in accordance with the harmonised standard EN 845- 2:2003 and fulfil the conditions of Annex ZA within this. For profiles, beads and lath, products must be manufactured in accordance with EN 13658- 1 & 2. For the product to legally carry the CE mark it must be supported by documentation to prove it has been independently tested to these requirements, via a Declaration of Performance document.

Catnic’s Declaration of Performance documentation is available for all relevant products (the harmonised standard precludes arches, CXL and mitred lintel ranges). Merchants, specifiers and end users can visit the website and simply download a PDF where required.

Richard Price, Technical Director of Catnic said: “We have applied CE marking to our products for some time and, unlike other manufacturers, Catnic’s CE mark has long been underpinned by independent testing by the University of Glamorgan. This means we can ensure that our products will continue to carry the reassurance that merchants, specifiers and end users require, even after 1st July.”
