Fläkt Woods has further expanded its highly efficient and flexible range of iQ Star active chilled beams with the new iQ Star Nova, designed specifically for exposed soffit installations.

Building on the success of Fläkt Woods’ extensive portfolio of chilled beams, the new iQ Star Nova provides excellent savings on running costs, as well as exceptional performance with an 80% turndown – perfect for commercial applications such as offices and schools, or where room occupancy levels fluctuate.

By utilising a patented actuator system for variable air volume and a pioneering nozzle technology, the iQ Star Nova is demand control ready and can track occupancy by a combination of CO2 and occupancy sensors. When installed, the system can reduce costs by up to 25% compared to traditional constant air volume systems.

The iQ Star Nova features a flow pattern control system, which allows an extremely flexible approach to room layouts. Plastic blades adjust air throw at angles of 0°, 15°, 30° and 45°, to provide an even flow to all areas of a building – optimising occupants’ comfort.

iQ Star Nova is a highly adaptable beam with various nozzle combinations that can be simply adjusted post installation – future proofing the design and giving full flexibility for CAT-B changes. In addition, the range is also available in cooling only or cooling and heating configurations.

All units in the iQ Star range are compatible with the STRA-14 controller, which is specifically developed for chilled beams applications. When combined, the system is capable of controlling a range of functions, including a six or three steps air flow control for user flexibility, as well as a ‘free cooling’ option to optimise energy efficiency. Plus, for ease of operation, the control unit has a user friendly display which allows quick access to control parameters, or for larger installations, the control unit can be integrated with a Building Management System.
