Leading air-to-water heat pump supplier Daikin UK is delighted to welcome the much-needed announcement that the Government remains committed to introducing the domestic Renewable Heat Incentive in Spring 2014.

Energy and Climate Change Minister Greg Barker announced the details of the scheme on 12th July, which included a tariff of 7.3 pence per kWh for air source heat pumps and at least 19.2 pence per kWh for solar thermal installations. After listening to feedback to earlier consultations, social landlords are now also included in the scheme.

Peter Verkempynck, Managing Director of Daikin UK, said: “We are extremely pleased that DECC has released concrete details about the scheme, which is a welcome demonstration of its continued commitment to the renewables industry.

“There has been a lot of uncertainty over the Government’s position on the RHI so this announcement has been long-awaited. Daikin UK has been a key player in the Government’s consultation process and this announcement, along with the recent increase in RHPP grants, is evidence that our representations have been taken on board.”

“This affirmation of the Government’s commitment to the RHI should go a long way towards reassuring the industry that DECC is serious about promoting renewable heat technologies and encouraging installers to undergo Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) accreditation, which is vital to ensure a quality installation and to qualify for RHI payment.”

“Daikin has committed a great deal of time and resource into ensuring its products are MCS accredited and this latest announcement shows that our faith in the Government’s commitment to the scheme was well-founded.”

The RHI is designed to drive forward the uptake of renewable heat technologies in homes across the country to help meet carbon reduction targets.
