ABB Appoints John Edwards as General Manager for High Voltage Products in the UK

ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, has appointed John Edwards to the role of General Manager High Voltage Products UK, a role which will see him overseeing a wide range of innovative high voltage products including power quality and power factor correction (PFC) solutions.

John has joined ABB from Schneider Electric (formerly AREVA T&D), where he was Unit Managing Director of Primary Distribution Switchgear business, responsible for driving business growth, profit and loss accountability and overseeing all aspects of management of the division.

David Hughes, Head of Front End Sales (FES) for ABB Power Products UK, said: “I’m delighted to welcome John to ABB. His appointment brings his experience of a large scale switchgear business and his management approach, which combines coaching and empowering his team and focus on delivering business objectives.”

John’s career started with an apprenticeship as an electrical technician, before working his way up the ladder and joining AREVA as a Tendering Engineer at the same time as studying for his degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

In a number of increasingly senior roles at AREVA, John gained commercial and management skills and experience and delivered business objectives across the management spectrum, from contract delivery, production and quality management to business development, coaching and employee development.

John has a continued commitment to professional development through further education, demonstrated most recently by completing an Advanced Diploma in Leadership and Management.
