Siemens Building Technologies - Putting Energy Savings on Show at NEMEX

Energy Management - Building Management - BMS Systems - Building Automation

Siemens Green Monitor

The Siemens Building Technologies division has showcased its latest innovative technology to drive energy savings at NEMEX Energy Live, the leading exhibition for energy management experts.

Visitors to the stand were able to speak to the experts about the Green Building Monitor – Siemens’ software application which provides an engaging visual representation of an organisation’s energy consumption and performance against set targets – and Desigo, Siemens’ building energy management system (BEMS), which is part of its extensive range of advanced building automation and control products and systems for efficient buildings.

The Green Building Monitor

The Green Building Monitor takes advantage of the public appetite for constant news updates. This software application allows the user to display current and credible statistics about your building’s actual energy usage, CO2 reductions and water conservation making your energy profile transparent. The actual values can be displayed alongside target values. This is ideal to display via a flat-screen and in a prominent public area such as a reception or lobby. This has two benefits, it showcases your environmental commitment and it motivates energy saving activities and behaviours.

Desigo

The Desigo BEMS from Siemens enables users to achieve significant energy savings by efficiently linking, controlling and monitoring a variety of different functions and building disciplines, to ensure a sustainable and comfortable working environment. It also allows full integration of the various functionalities across a building’s energy use, thanks to open communications protocols including BACnet and KNX. Building owners can also react to future changes to systems and the site with the system, and features such as integrated demand-based optimum room climate control and data monitoring, ensure it can deliver essential energy consumption and cost savings over the short, medium and long term.

Ian Ellis, UK Marketing Manager for Control Products and Systems within the Siemens Building Technologies division, comments: “While it’s crucial to be able to rely on a control system to help drive energy savings, it is also essential any energy saving technological advances are supported by the efficient behaviours of staff and visitors. For this reason, we provided demonstrations of the Green Building Monitor at NEMEX to show how energy consumption data can be brought to life to engage building users. We also presented our leading building energy management system, Desigo, which enables full integration of building technologies to effectively drive energy savings across sites.”

The Siemens Building Technologies division offers the latest technology across building automation, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) controls, fire protection and security.
