Fläkt Woods - Chilled to the Max: New Unit From Fläkt Woods

Chiller Units - Air Cooled Chillers - Air Handling Units

Flakt Climaflakt Unit

Fläkt Woods has added a new, highly efficient chiller unit to its market leading range of air climate solutions - Climaflakt KCCJ.

Delivering an impressive Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) of up to 5.65, the new air-cooled chiller is available in 10 models with outputs from 200kW to 650kW, making it perfect for a range of commercial, industrial and residential applications.

To meet the new EU Regulations and F-Gas Directive, the Climaflakt KCCJ encompasses new features including a multi-scroll compressor for enhanced part-load efficiencies, an increased heat exchanger surface to reduce compressor consumption, and a non-ozone depleting refrigerant.

In addition, all Climaflakt KCCJ units are equipped with advanced winglet aerofoil fans, which not only have improved aerodynamic efficiencies to reduce energy consumption by up to 10%, but also limit noise levels by 6dB. Furthermore, all Climaflakt KCCJ units are supplied with electronic condensation control as standard. This function automatically reduces the unit’s fan speed when the heating load falls, ensuring that noise levels are kept to a minimum.

For larger buildings that require higher cooling capacities, the Climaflakt KCCJ units are also designed to be connected in cascade for up to seven units - providing increased flexibility in system design, as well as improved reliability and efficiencies.

A key development of the new Climaflakt units is the integration of advanced microprocessor controls that allow the compressors to be switched on and off in conjunction with cooling demand. This development minimises the amount of compressor start-ups to help prolong the unit’s service life, while the incorporation of electronic expansion valves also encourages low discharge temperatures and prevents liquid returning to the compressors.

Commenting on the new products, Linden Shuttleworth, UK Sales Manager for Fläkt Woods, said: “The emphasis on carbon reduction in buildings has never been more important, and at Fläkt Woods we have always designed products with energy efficiency in mind. The new Climaflakt chillers are no exception and they also perfectly complement our air handling units, chilled beams and existing chiller models.”
